My Own Testimony
At one time, not too long ago, I weighed over 200 pounds. I was always tired and I "felt" bad without even realizing it. I was fourtunate to be able to carry my weight well and most people would have never guessed the truth about where the scales tipped. However, I knew the truth and it was embarrassing.
My clients always ask me the secret to my success. I wish I had a clear cut answer to that question. The truth is... I always struggled with my weight. I have done every diet from Atkins to Vegetarism. I have tried various diet pills and supplements and my results were always disappointing. After years of tiresome ups and downs in my quest to acheive the perfect weight I came to one very real conculsion. There are simply no short cuts. I had to eat right and I had to get active.
In 2001, I joined my first kickboxing class and feel in love. It was hard but I was losing weight. I dropped down to 165 lbs and was able to squeeze into a size 8 (remember... I could always carry my weight well). However, my eating habits never changed so when I became pregnant with my second son, I regained all my weight and then some. At my 6 week check up I weighed 209 and I cried all the way home from the doctors office. All that previous hard work seemed so wasted. After a few days of self pity, I decided to give it a go again. Around the same time my church was participating in a corporate fast. The congression was charged with sacraficing "something" for the next 30 days. I decided to give up junkfood.
The first three weeks were terrible. I hated every minute of my decision to give up my comfort foods. However by week four, I noticed something. I had lost eight pounds and I actually started feeling "better". I decided to go back to my kickboxing classes and continue my own personal fast for another 30 days. By the end of the second month, I had lost another 10 pounds and had more energy than I could dream possible. I realized how important my diet was to my overall wellbeing.
Fast forward to the future... I now know what it takes to succeed in your fitness goals. The truth is there is no secret. You can not do a 6 minute ab video and have a six pack in a month. You can not simply walk 30 minutes a day and have a rock hard body. You can not starve yourself or participate in the latest fad diet and have results that will last. I wish it were that easy. Better yet, I wish I could find that miracle solution so I could go on my own infomercial and make a killing! The only way to achive your fitness goals is through proper nutrition and a lot of hard work.
The good news is that you don't have to do it alone. I've been there. My other clients have been there too. We survived the battle of the bulge and came out victorious. As your trainer... I am your tour guide... I am your accountabilty partner... I am your drill sergent .. . and I am the first person you will usually call when you step into that dressing room and feel yourself slip into a size you never thought you would be in again!
